Department of Chemistry

This department commenced its activities in 1356 SH (Solar Hijri calendar) as one of the four departments of the "Lorestan Higher Education Center," affiliated with Jundi Shapur University of Ahvaz, by admitting students in the field of Chemistry Education at the Bachelor's level. Over time, with the upgrading of the Lorestan Higher Education Center to Lorestan University, significant development occurred in the quantity and quality of educational fields, and the Chemistry department attained its specific academic standing. This department began admitting students in the Master's program by obtaining permission for Master's degrees in Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry in 1374 SH, and in the Doctoral program by obtaining permission for a PhD in Organic Chemistry and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, and in 1386 SH for the first courses.
Currently, this department has 19 full-time faculty members (9 professors, 4 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors), 2 Bachelor's degree programs (Pure Chemistry and Applied Chemistry), 5 Master's degree programs (Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Nano Chemistry), and 4 Doctoral programs in the specializations of (Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry). Under current conditions, the Chemistry department meets the requirements for elevation to a faculty, and the permission to establish the Faculty of Chemistry has also been approved.
