Introduction to the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics was established in 1977, concurrently with the founding of the Lorestan Higher Education Complex, initially as a branch of Jundi Shapur University of Ahvaz (currently Shahid Chamran University), with the admission of 35 students in the field of mathematics.

In 1983, after the reopening of universities, the Lorestan Higher Education Complex began its independent activities with two fields: Mathematics Education and Chemistry Education. The Department of Mathematics, being the most established academic department at Lorestan University, continued its activities with the approval of the comprehensive plan for Lorestan University and its approval by the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education and the Planning and Budget Organization in 1988, offering Bachelor's degrees in Pure Mathematics and Mathematics Education. Subsequently, in 1990, the Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics was added to the previous two fields. In 2001, student admission in postgraduate courses began, and currently, it admits Master's students in three specializations and ten sub-branches, as well as Ph.D. students in three specializations and ten sub-branches. Furthermore, since 2011, the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science has been added to the Department of Mathematics.
