Joint Collaboration between Lorestan University and Iraqi Universities in Service of Solving an Environmental Challenge
May 02, 2026
A virtual scientific meeting presenting the final reports of two joint international environmental projects (reducing pollutants from water sources) was held by Dr. Niloofar Dorosti, faculty member of the Faculty of Chemistry, Lorestan University, Dr. Khalid Mohammad Omar (from Sulaimani University), and Dr. Omid Amiri (from Cihan University of Sulaimani).
Name of the First Project:
Design, construction, and identification of a sensor based on new metal-organic framework/phosphorus derivative nanocomposites.
Researchers' Names:
_ Dr. Niloofar Dorosti; Faculty member of the Faculty of Chemistry, Lorestan University.
_ Dr. Khalid Mohammad Omar; University of Sulaimani, Iraq.
_ Collaborator: Faezeh Javanmard; PhD student, Lorestan University.
Name of the Second Project:
_ Design, construction, and identification of new magnetic metal-organic framework/phosphorus amide nanocomposites for the removal of aquatic pollutants.
Researchers' Names:
_ Dr. Niloofar Dorosti; Faculty member of the Faculty of Chemistry, Lorestan University.
_ Dr. Omid Amiri; Cihan University of Sulaimani, Iraq.
_ Mahtab Alipour; PhD student, Lorestan University.
The results of these applied, problem-solving studies can be effective in removing pharmaceutical pollutants from water sources and reducing environmental problems.
Furthermore, such research is in line with the expansion of transnational scientific diplomacy and the increase of international cooperation among countries with a "problem-solving" approach.
